I wanted to start this week with a fantastic musical performance I found at Piper Bayard’s blog. Piper has some wonderful stuff on her site and this was just right out of left field.
It’s Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody: played on the ukelele! Extraordinary.
Don’t miss it. It’s right here
Jake Shimabukuro, from Hawaii has revolutionized ukelele playing and has been compared to Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis. See more about him here.
Did you know vanilla bourbon icing could pose a security risk? Neither did Rebecca Hains from Massachussetts. Her hummus sandwiches made it through airport security but a cupcake was identified as a terrorist threat (because of ‘a gel-like substance conforming to the shape of its container.’)

Now we all know how hard it is getting a book published, right? So you’ll probably have some sympathy for this guy, trying to get a Munich publisher to buy his masterpiece.
I’d suggest he goes indie.
Now when it comes to looks and sex appeal, you’ve either got it or you haven’t. This guy obviously has it. Unfortunately the female that finds him absolutely irresistible has bad breath and a hump.
Which proves: the guy may look ordinary to us (except - what does he have in that black plastic bag?) but in Camel World he’s George Clooney.
And finally, in 2011 we bid a fond Vale to Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi who became, during his time as leader of Italy, a byword for dignity, sensitivity and sophistication. A parting shot from Mister Bunga Bunga:
Responding (yet again) to allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, he said: “When asked if they would like to have sex with me, 30% of women said, ‘Yes’, while the other 70% replied, ‘What, again?'”

Ah, Silvio. A nation mourns.
Jake's performance is awesome! Thanks for sharing. And cupcakes have always been kryptonite to me, but who knew??
Thanks Colleen. Piper has tons of great stuff like that on her site. I'm worried about the cupcake thing though. If the founding fathers had known about them, I'm sure they would have enshrined them in the Constitution as an inalienable right.
