“A magisterial tale.” - UK Daily Mail

SilkRoad(1)

“Callous executions, one-eyed camel drivers, corruption, sin, a heart-wrenching love story, dark secrets, and life and death circumstances are revealed at a fast pace in each brief chapter.

The plot is rich and sure to keep the reader focused on turning the page to learn what happens next – and always to some shocking circumstance or pleasant surprise.

That’s what I loved most about this book – plenty of the odd and unusual to keep me fascinated throughout. It is the richness of the prose itself that truly made this historical era come alive.” -Historical Novel Review

Atlantis, Vikings, Valhalla,“They set out that day to sail for Vinland. Tromdur Svensson planned to be away for just three years. How the gods were laughing at him, at all of them, on that day.”

—from The Saga of Harald Half-Face.

1000 AD.

When the North Men from Ingolfsfell sail from their icy fjord in a single longboat, to establish a settlement across the great sea, they thought they would be gone for just three years. They had no name for the Atlantic then; and America they called ‘Vinland’, the place of meadows.

But a storm takes them off course to an island even the legendary Leif Erikson had never seen. These natives are not savages in skins; and they do not build their homes from hides.

They live instead in a great city, in the shadow of a looming volcano. And they do not hunt animals; they hunt men with white hair and blue eyes.

Their gods come from the skies, and the Apocalypse is … now.

“There is a river that gives us life. You may dam it; you may swim against it. But in the end, it will flow to the sea, with or without you.”

  1. I have just finished reading Stigmata, could not put it down! Loved every second of it. Maybe Mr Falconer should follow up with Philip & Fabricia eventually travelling full circle to Vercy & take back his castle & land from his second wife & her brothers, including Loup into the story(I want to know his fate & the fate of the rest of those back in Vercy). PLEASE???

    • Thanks Estelle. Look, I don’t know. I never considered a sequel. I always figured they’d be okay those two. And I have all these other ideas lined up right now that I just HAVE to write …

  2. I have read Isabella and loved it , I don’t think I’ve read a book so fast . I’m halfway through Stigmata and can’t put it down.Simon De Montfort was a long time coming into the book though.

    • Thank you Moira! So pleased you loved Isabella … and Stigmata is a real favourite of mine. Simon de Montfort doesn’t play a huge role as you’ll see - I kept to history and placed him only where he might have been at the time.

  3. Harem is the first novel that I read of Falconer. It is wonderful but I ended up hating Hurrem.

I will read “Estigmas” very soon! Also, I want that The William Shakespeare Detective Agency, Isabella and Cleopatra be translated into Spanish.

Colin figures as one of my favorite authors.

  4. I want to start the Jerusalem series but have found the first one “Jerusalem” is not available . Kindle edition. I have to use Amazon.es. Anybody know why ?

    • Linda I’ve written you an email to answer that. Basically we’re rejacketing the series and have temporarily taken it off Amazon while it’s being done. It should be out again in the next week or so.
