SHUNDAY MASH: HOW USING A CELL PHONE CAN GET YOU BEATEN UP

Did you know that cell phones can cause injury? You shouldn’t be too complacent about the dangers of using one, and later I’ve got a video to prove it to you.

But first …

COMPLICASHUN: I love this post from Debra Eve: HOW JAMES MICHENER DERAILED MY CAREER. Michener was a wonderful storyteller and one of the mega-sellers of the twentieth century. This is his story - and how he turned Debra from a life of archaeology.

THE ULTIMATE ACCESSORISHUN: This had me in stitches; Ginger Calem guest posts at Myndi Shafer’s blog about the ultimate accessory - the crack patch. Look, I can’t explain, you’ll have to see it for yourself at Myndi Shafer ‘s blog.

ALL THIS AND HUNTER S. THOMSHUN: I loved this piece from Victoria Mixon on the Writing Life, and her references to that eighties icon, the Doonesbury cartoons. You’ll find it over at the always excellent Writer Unboxed.

RECLAMASHUN: Trish de Clara commented on my 6 Keys to becoming a Great Writer during the week and sent me this link to a Stephen King interview where he talks about his wife rescuing the Carrie manuscript from the trash bin. Brilliant stuff.

INSPIRASHUN: I loved this piece from Nick Thacker at LIVE WRITE THRIVE ‘3 Great Tips for Authors on Networking.’ Some great advice here, and worth a read.

COMMEMORASHUN: Alvarado Frazier wrote a nice piece on the 5 women awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour on Tuesday; they were former secretary of state, Madeline Albright; Juliette Gordon Law, who founded the Girl Scouts at 45 when she was divorced, deaf and childless: Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America; Toni Morrison, author of such novels as “Song of Solomon” and “Beloved'; and Pat Summit, former the first U.S. Olympian to win a basketball medal and coach a medal-winning team. It’s inspirational: read it here.

And finally we come to the dangers of cell phones. See for yourself.

I had to wait a couple of minutes before commenting, for laughing so much. Thanks for the mention on 2012 Medal of Freedom awardees & thanks for the video.

  2. Thank you, Colin! It’s been one of those days and I really needed to see the cell phone video. I laughed so hard I cried. :)

I love handsfree cell phone technology. Not that I have any but I feel ok now about talking to myself out loud without seeming like a fruitcake. he he

(How did it ever take this long to invent the crack patch. They should have been standard issue for tradesman years ago.)

    • It is bizarre seeing people walking along the street apparently talking to themselves. In fact, it would be great to try, just talk to yourself all day at the top of your voice and I reckon no one would suspect a thing. And you’re so right about the crack patch, Trish. I have no idea where Ginger Calem found them, but I am going to get one for our plumber for Christmas!

So honored to be included here, Colin. What a great mash up!
