SEIZE THE DAY TOMORROW

People sometimes ask me: ‘Whatever happened to that friend of yours, you know, the really patient and tolerant one who walked the camino with you. You wrote the seize the day book with her.’

They sometimes seem surprised that we are still close friends, after what they read about our misadventures in Spain.

And the epilogue? They know I’m a dead loss, but what happened to Eli?

Here’s what happened to Eli.

The good-looking bloke is called Shawn. The dog is called Drus. The baby - not in picture, he’s due in August - will not be called Dave, according to El, but we’ll see. The photograph was taken last month by the pool in their beautiful split-level house in the hills overlooking the Queensland coast.

So now you know. Happy endings don’t just happen in fiction. It couldn’t have happened to a more beautiful soul.
